Neck Lift

Is meant to correct the saggy neck skin as a result of aging or weight loss etc. It usually is a part of the lower face lift, which means tightening the skin of the neck and jowls.


Causes: aging, weight loss, excessive fat deposition and genetics.

Management: Problem – excessive fat deposition
  1. liposuction or sub mental fat dissection
  2. Skin excision – tightening using short scar technique; behind the ear
  3. Platysma band – sub mental incision and band resection or tightness
  4. Combined problems need combined approaches

Technique:
  1. Lateral approach through the periauricular incision.
  2. 2) Central approach for platysmal band correction and direct fat excision.
    Most of the time, both approach in moderate to severe neck laxity
  3. Liposuction of the sub mental fat pad.
  4. Surgery could only be one of the above techniques or all of them. It depends on the severity.

Post Operative Management:
  1. Cold compresses
  2. Avoid Pressure
  3. Drains
  4. Incision management with antibiotic cream
  5. Facial cleansing

Complications:
  1. Swelling, bruising, pain and numbness
  2. Infection, facial nerve injury
  3. Residual deformity
  4. Scarring
